It's Not Worth It!

This is extremely random and a little lighter than what I usually share, but the older I get, the more I wish somebody had told me a few things. Whether I would have listened is another story.

One of those things? Leave those few gray hairs alone.

Years ago, a friend from church who did my hair suggested coloring it, and I said okay. There wasn't some big reason behind it. She started coloring it, and I just kept doing it. When she moved away, I went to someone I grew up with, and she continued what we had already started.

I loved getting my hair done. Getting it washed was always my favorite part. But somewhere along the way, covering the gray became something I felt like I needed to keep doing.

I'm pretty plain when it comes to all that. A little mascara, straight hair, and that's about it. So I don't think I gave the decision nearly as much thought as I'm giving it now while I wait for this color to grow out.

For whatever reason, in this season of life, I've decided to let it grow. Maybe becoming Mam had something to do with it. I honestly don't know. But there's quite a bit of gray showing now, and there's still some growing out to do.

And I do wish I had just left it alone in the first place.

So if you're younger and noticing a few grays, here's my little piece of advice: you don't have to start coloring them just because somebody suggests it or because everybody else does. You can leave them right there.

Heck, I probably wouldn't have listened either. But while I'm over here growing mine out, I figured I'd at least tell you.
