When She Sees Herself Through God’s Eyes A 7-Day Journey from Comparison to Confidence in Christ
Day 5: Gratitude for Your Body
Read 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 together.
Your body doesn’t have to be perfect for you to be grateful for it.
Your body is a gift.
Maybe you don’t love everything about the way you look. That’s okay. But today, instead of focusing on what you wish you could change, stop and think about what your body allows you to do.
Write down 10 things your body allows you to do.
Hug the people you love.
Serve others.
Laugh.
Walk.
Pray.
Sing.
Dance.
Create.
Hold a baby.
Watch a sunset.
Maybe your list will look completely different.
The point isn’t to convince yourself that you suddenly love every part of your body.
The point is to practice gratitude instead of criticism.
Your body has carried you through ordinary days, hard days, joyful days, and days you weren’t sure you could get through.
So today, instead of standing in front of the mirror searching for what is wrong with you, stop and thank God for what your body allows you to experience and do.
You don’t have to be perfect to be grateful.
And maybe, just maybe, the more you practice gratitude, the quieter the criticism becomes.
